Today Rupee trades low at 65.57 against US dollar in market

 
The Indian rupee on Wednesday weakened against the US dollar tracking the fall in global equity markets.

The rupee opened at 65.55 and touched a low of 65.57 a dollar. The home currency was trading at 65.57, down 0.42% from its Monday’s close of 65.28.

Asian currencies were trading lower. South Korean won was down 0.4%, Philippines peso 0.26%, Taiwan dollar 0.19%, Malaysian ringgit 0.14%, Singapore dollar 0.1% and Indonesian rupiah 0.1%. However, Japanese yen was up 0.1%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 99.84, up 0.03% from its Monday’s close of 99.81.

Today Rupee nears 17-month high against US dollar In market

 
The Indian rupee on Thursday strengthened for the fourth consecutive session to hit near fresh 17-month high against the US dollar, tracking its Asian peers as the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates without accelerating its timeline for future tightening.

Gains in rupee was also due to narrowed trade deficit data for February.

The rupee opened at 65.39 a dollar and touched a high of 65.24, a level last seen on 30 October 2015. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 65.25, up 0.65% from its previous close of 65.82.

Among Asian currencies, South Korean won was up 0.1%, Taiwan dollar 0.47%, China renminbi 0.29%, Malaysian ringgit 0.24%, Philippines peso 0.22% and Indonesian rupiah 0.22%. However, China offshore was down 0.36%, Singapore dollar 0.26% and Thai baht 0.09%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 100.61, down 0.13% from its Monday’s close of 100.74.

Today Rupee hits fresh 16-month high against US dollar in market

 
The Indian rupee strengthened for the third session to hit a fresh 16-month high against the US dollar ahead of the outcome of US Federal Reserve meeting due later on Wednesday.

The rupee opened at 65.76 a dollar and touched a high of 65.53, a level last seen on 3 November 2015. At 9.50am, the home currency was trading at 65.55, up 0.40% from its previous close of 65.82.

Asian currencies were trading marginally lower. Taiwan dollar was up 0.23%, Thai baht 0.13%, South Korean won 0.12%, Philippine peso 0.06% and Singapore dollar 0.06%. However, Japanese yen was down 0.07%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.67, down 0.03% from its Monday’s close of 101.7.

Today Rupee hits 11-month high against US dollar as markets soar

The Indian rupee on Tuesday hit an 11-month high against the US dollar as local equity markets surged over 440 points after Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh.

The rupee opened at 66.21 a dollar and touched a high of 66.18, a level last seen on 20 April 2016. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 66.19, up 0.63% from its previous close of 66.61.

Asian currencies were trading marginally lower. The Federal Open Market Committee is set to raise rates at the conclusion of its two-day meeting on Wednesday. Traders are also looking for clues on how quickly the US central bank is planning to tighten monetary policy.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.39, up 0.07% from its Monday’s close of 101.31.

On Friday, better-than-expected US job data provided further evidence for the Federal Reserve that the moment to raise interest rates has come. The Labor Department reported a gain of 235,000 jobs and healthy wage growth in a month when even the weather cooperated, Reuters reported.

Today Rupee trades marginally higher against US dollar


The Indian rupee on Thursday was trading marginally higher against the US dollar in opening trade, tracking gains in the local equity markets.

The local currency opened at 66.76 a dollar. the home currency was trading at 66.77, up 0.11% from its previous close of 66.83.

Most Asian currencies were trading lower after US Federal Reserve officials prompted gains in the dollar by signalling increased willingness to tighten monetary policy as early as March.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.89, up 0.13% from its previous close of 101.78.

At Todays Market Rupee trades flat against US dollar


The Indian rupee on Monday opened weaker but soon erased all the losses and was trading little changed against the US dollar.

The local currency opened at 67.08 a dollar. the home currency was trading at 67.04, down 0.03% from its previous close of 67.02. Traders are focusing on results of the upcoming state elections on 11 March.

India’s 10-year bond yield was at 6.863% compared to its Friday’s close of 6.852%. Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions. India’s benchmark Sensex index fell 0.07% or 18.81 points to 28,449.94. So far this year, Sensex has risen 7%.

Most Asian currencies were trading lower. Philippines peso was down 0.33%, Japanese yen fell 0.26%, Indonesian rupiah 0.17%, Malaysian ringgit 0.11% and Taiwan dollar fell 0.08%. However, China offshore rose 0.1%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 100.95, up 0.01% from its previous close of 100.94 .

Indian rupee trading little changed against the US dollar


The Indian rupee on Wednesday was trading little changed against the US dollar in the opening trade.

The local currency opened at 66.93 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 66.93—down 0.01% from its previous close of 66.92.

India’s 10-year bond yield was at 6.873%—from its Tuesday’s close of 6.875%. Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions. India’s benchmark Sensex index fell 0.28% or 80.12 points to 28,259.19 on Wednesday. So far this year, Sensex has risen 6.4%.

Asian currencies were trading higher. Taiwan dollar was up 0.15%, China Offshore spot 0.11%, Singapore dollar 0.06%, China renminbi 0.05%. However, South Korean won was down 0.28%, the Philippines peso 0.14%, Japanese yen 0.07%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.26—up 0.01% from its previous close of 101.25.

Today Rupee strengthens marginally against US dollar

 
The Indian rupee Tuesday strengthened marginally against the US dollar tracking the gains in the Asian currencies markets.The local currency opened at 66.97 a dollar.the home currency was trading at 66.96—up 0.07% from its previous close of 67.02.

India’s retail inflation decelerated in January to 3.17% from 3.41% a month ago as prices of vegetables and pulses fell further.

Since the beginning of this year, the rupee has gained 1.36%, while foreign institutional investors have bought $319.70 million and $252.60 million from local equity and debt markets respectively.

Asian currencies were trading higher. South Korean won was up 0.21%, Singapore dollar 0.14%, Taiwan dollar 0.1%, Thai baht 0.05%, China Offshore 0.05%. However, Indonesian rupiah was down 0.04%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 100.98—up 0.02% from its previous close of 100.96.

Rupee trades slightly higher against US dollar ahead of RBI policy


The Indian rupee on Wednesday was trading marginally higher against the US dollar ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) bi-monthly policy decision after 2.30pm.

The local currency opened at 67.37 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 67.36, up 0.08% from its previous close of 67.41.

Asian currencies markets were trading lower. Malaysian ringgit was down 0.13%, Taiwan dollar 0.1%, Philippines peso 0.09%, China offshore 0.07% and South Korean won 0.05%. However, Japanese yen was up 0.2%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 100.31, up 0.05% from its previous close of 100.26.

Today Rupee opens 11 paise higher at 67.20 against US dollar

 
The Indian rupee on Monday strengthened against the US dollar tracking the gains in the local equity and Asian currencies markets. The rupee gained for the ninth consecutive session, its longest winning streak since June 2011.Traders are cautious ahead of an event heavy week.

The local currency opened at 67.21 a dollar and touched a low of 67.20, a level last seen on 11 November 2016. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 67.22, up 0.17% from its previous close of 67.32.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will meet on Wednesday for its bi-month policy. Seven out of 10 bank economists polled by Mint expect RBI to cut its repo rate by 25 basis points to 6%. The other three expect the repo rate to remain unchanged.

Asian currencies were trading higher as the dollar weakened after mixed US employment data reduced expectations for a US Federal Reserve interest rate increase in March.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 99.71, down 0.16% from its previous close of 99.87.

Indian rupee hit an eight-week high against the US dollar

 
The Indian rupee hit an eight-week high against the US dollar on Thursday, as foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued to buy in local equity markets.

The local currency opened at 67.42 a dollar and touched a high of 67.39, a level last seen on 8 December 2016. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 67.43, up 0.06% from its previous close of 67.48.

This was the seventh consecutive session when the rupee opened higher. FIIs bought nearly $517.81 million in equity over the last 10 trading sessions and have been buyers on all but one trading session over this period.

Asian currencies were trading mixed after US Federal Reserve officials gave little direction on when it might next raise rates. The Fed acknowledged rising confidence among consumers and business and reiterated its intention to lift rates gradually as the labour market tightens.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 99.58, down 0.07% from its previous close of 99.641.

Today Rupee holds the line against US dollar at 68.06

 
The Indian rupee on Tuesday was trading little changed against the US dollar in the opening trade.

The rupee opened at 68.06 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 68.07 a dollar—up 0.03% from Monday’s close of 68.10. So far this year, it has fallen 0.22%.

Rupee opened nearly 13 paise higher at 68.08 against the dollar

 
The rupee opened nearly 13 paise higher at 68.08 against the dollar on Tuesday amid selling of dollars by banks and exporters. The domestic equity market opened in the green following mixed global cues.

The rupee was trading nearly 20 paise up at 68 against the dollar around 9.30 am (IST).

The local currency plunged over 25 paise on Monday to close at 68.21 against the greenback on rising concerns over a drop in the country’s economic growth.Most of the Asian currencies were trading higher as dollar index dropped amid narrowing US yield curves.

South Korean won was up 0.92%, Indonesian rupiah 0.46%, Japanese yen 0.38%, Singapore dollar 0.22%, China renminbi 0.16%, Thai baht 0.1%, Malaysian ringgit 0.07%, Philippines peso 0.06%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.67—down 0.26% from its previous close of 101.93.

Today Rupee opens nearly 19 paise down at 68.15 against dollar

 
The Indian rupee on Monday weakened against the US dollar tracking the losses in the Asian currencies markets and also on the pessimism on domestic markets following the lower economic growth projections last Friday.

Traders were also worried that the full year gross domestic product may come even lower then the estimates after impact of demonetisation factored in.

The rupee opened at 68.16 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 68.20 a dollar, down 0.34% from Friday’s close of 67.96. So far this year it fell 0.4%.

Asian markets were also trading higher in morning trade on Monday, supported by a strong Wall Street, and the dollar stood tall against rivals after the latest US payrolls data indicated strong underlying wage growth, strengthening the case for more rate increases in 2017.

Rupee recovers 10 paise against dollar in early trade

 
The rupee gained some strength and was trading nearly 10 paise higher at 67.93 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday on some selling pressure in the American currency from domestic companies and banks.

Domestic equity indices Sensex and Nifty opened in the green, following firm global cues. The 30-share Sensex opened 60.90 points, or 0.23 per cent, higher at 26,368, while the 50-share Nifty opened 23.45 points, or 0.29 per cent, up at 8,105. The local currency opened at nearly 7 paise up at 67.96 against the dollar.

The rupee slipped by 16 paise to 68.03 against the greenback on Tuesday. Market watchers said sustained capital outflow kept the currency under pressure in Tuesday's session.

In the currency futures market, the most traded dollar-rupee December contract on NSE ended at 68.07 on Tuesday. The open interest on the December contract rose by 11.64 per cent from the previous day.

Today Rupee trades 6 paise higher at 67.81 against US dollar

 
The rupee was trading nearly 6 paise higher at 67.81 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday amid buying of the American currency by banks and exporters amid mixed global cues.

The domestic equity indices opened on a flat note. The 30-share Sensex opened 0.11 points down at 26,374, while the Nifty50 began the day 6.25 points higher at 8,110.

The rupee slipped around 11 paise against the dollar on Monday. Robust foreign money outflow coupled with near-term consequences of Fed rate hike largely kept sentiments cautious despite a dollar retreat.

The rupee is likely to stay under pressure due to evolving domestic uncertainties, weakening foreign trade and improving US monetary condition.

Today Rupee advances 7 paise to 68.15 against dollar in early trade


The rupee started nearly 7 paise higher against the US dollar at 68.15 on Monday amid selling of the American currency by banks and exporters.

The domestic equity market opened on a flat note, following mixed global cues.

The local currency was trading 6 paise up at 68.15, while equity benchmark Sensex was down 22.44 points, or 0.09 per cent, at 26,208. The Nifty50 index was trading 5.95 points, or 0.07 per cent, down at 8,080.

On Friday, the rupee added to its gains against the dollar, gaining over 10 paise to end at 68.22 on rising expectations that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will lower policy rates at its policy review on Wednesday.

The Monetary Policy Committee headed by RBI Governor Urjit Patel had slashed repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.25 per cent in October.

The rupee has weakened more than 3 per cent in recent weeks to hit record lows, pressured by a rally in the US dollar, capital outflows from emerging markets and worries that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation move would severely dent growth.

Rupee slips after opening gains, down 3 paise at 68.38 against dollar


The rupee wiped off its opening gains and was trading nearly 3 paise down at 68.38 in early trade on Friday on account of sustained foreign fund outflows coupled with buying of American currency by banks and importers. Meanwhile, weak opening of domestic equity markets further affected market sentiments.

The local currency opened the day at 6 paise higher at 68.28 against dollar. Benchmark equity index NSE Nifty opened 39.35 points, or 0.48 per cent, down at 8,153.55, while BSE Sensex opened 161.45 points, or 0.61 per cent, down at 26,398.47.

Rupee ended at one-week high of 68.35 against dollar on Thursday following robust macro-economic data even as crude prices jumped after the historic Opec deal.

Government bonds advanced for a second day on Thursday, as expectations the central bank may lower interest rates next week spurred demand. The benchmark 6.97 per cent bond maturing in 2026 ended at Rs 105.47 against Rs 105.24 on Wednesday. The benchmark 6.97 per cent 2026 bond yield slipped to 6.22 per cent from 6.25 per cent the previous day.

Today Rupee Gains nearly 8 paise against the US dollar in early trade

 
The rupee gained nearly 8 paise against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday amid firm opening of the domestic equity market following robust global cues. However, the local currency opened on a flat note at 66.43 level against the US dollar.

The rupee was trading 7 paise higher at 66.36 against the US dollar around 9.15 am. The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened 352.52 points and 123.60 points higher at 27,605 and 8,555, respectively.

On Wednesday, the rupee reversed its initial losses and closed with a sharp gain of 19 paise at a two-month high of 66.43 against the dollar. However, benchmark equity indices plunged over a percentage point on the government’s drive against black money and Donald Trump’s win in the US presidential polls.

The dollar index recovered from a low of 95.885 against major currencies and tested the 98.448 level on Wednesday.

Today Rupee climbs nearly 2 paise ; wipes off initial losses

 
The Indian rupee was trading nearly 2 paise higher at 66.68 in early trade on Monday on account of selling of American currency by banks and importers amid a firm start of domestic equity market. However, the local currency started the day around 4 paise lower at 66.74 against the dollar.
 
Benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty surged over a percentage point in early trade following firm global cues. The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 278.12 points up at 27,552.27, while the 50-share Nifty index was trading 102 points up at 8,535.75.

The rupee on Friday recovered by 5 paise against the US currency to end at 66.70 on stray dollar selling even as stock markets continued to decline. According to market experts, continued selling by foreign institutional investors in equities and debt on the back of wavering global financial markets restricted the rupee gains on Friday.
