Today Rupee opens marginally higher against US dollar in market

 
The Indian rupee on Friday was trading marginally higher against the US dollar in the opening trade.
 
The rupee opened at 65.49 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 65.50, up 0.04% from its previous close of 65.53.

Asian currencies were trading lower. Japanese yen was down 0.31%, Thai baht 0.23%, Singapore dollar 0.14%, China Offshore 0.13%, China renminbi 0.09%. However, Philippines peso was up 0.13%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 99.955—up 0.19% from its Monday’s close of 99.76.

Today Rupee trades low at 65.57 against US dollar in market

 
The Indian rupee on Wednesday weakened against the US dollar tracking the fall in global equity markets.

The rupee opened at 65.55 and touched a low of 65.57 a dollar. The home currency was trading at 65.57, down 0.42% from its Monday’s close of 65.28.

Asian currencies were trading lower. South Korean won was down 0.4%, Philippines peso 0.26%, Taiwan dollar 0.19%, Malaysian ringgit 0.14%, Singapore dollar 0.1% and Indonesian rupiah 0.1%. However, Japanese yen was up 0.1%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 99.84, up 0.03% from its Monday’s close of 99.81.

Today Rupee Hit four month high Against Us dollar In market

 
The Indian rupee on Tuesday hit a four-month high against the US dollar ahead of the key events in domestic as well as international markets due later this week.

Gains in the rupee was also due to continued buying from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) in both local equity and bond markets. So far this year, FIIs have bought $1.76 billion and $430.60 million from local equity and debt markets, respectively.

The local currency opened at 66.67 a dollar and touched a high of 66.61—a level last seen on 10 November. At 9.54am, the home currency was trading at 66.61—up 0.14% from its Monday’s close of 66.72. Year to date, the rupee has gained 1.9%.

Asian currencies were trading stronger. South Korean won was up 0.53%, Taiwan dollar 0.18%, Singapore dollar 0.05%, Indonesian rupiah 0.04%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.66—up 0.01% from its Monday’s close of 101.64.

Today Rupee trades marginally higher against US dollar


The Indian rupee on Thursday was trading marginally higher against the US dollar in opening trade, tracking gains in the local equity markets.

The local currency opened at 66.76 a dollar. the home currency was trading at 66.77, up 0.11% from its previous close of 66.83.

Most Asian currencies were trading lower after US Federal Reserve officials prompted gains in the dollar by signalling increased willingness to tighten monetary policy as early as March.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.89, up 0.13% from its previous close of 101.78.

Rupee weakens against US dollar on Asian cues in market

 
The Indian rupee on Wednesday weakened against the US dollar, tracking the losses in the Asian currencies markets.

The home currency opened at 66.79 against the US dollar. At 9.10am, the rupee was trading at 66.80 per US dollar, down 0.16% from its Tuesday’s close of 66.69. So far this year, it has risen 1.69%.

India’s benchmark Sensex index was trading at 28,851.12 points, up 0.38% or 107.80 points from its previous close. So far this year, it has risen 7.95%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.47, up 0.35% from its previous close of 101.12.

Rupee weakens against US dollar in opening trade


The Indian rupee weakened marginally against the US dollar in opening trade, ahead of the key gross domestic product (GDP) and fiscal deficit data due later on Tuesday.

The local currency opened at 66.75 a dollar., the home currency was trading at 66.78, down 0.10% from its Monday’s close of 66.71.

Sensex index rose 0.17% or 48.46 points to 28,853.33. So far this year, it has risen 8.2%.

Most Asian currencies were trading lower. Thai baht was down 0.19%, Malaysian ringgit 0.15%, Taiwan dollar 0.06%. However, Japanese yen was up 0.12%, South Korean won 0.08%, China Offshore 0.05%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.17, up 0.04% from its previous close of 101.13.

Traders are cautious ahead of the US President Donald Trump’s first address to the US Congress on Tuesday.

Today Rupee trades marginally lower against US dollar

 
The Indian rupee on Thursday was trading marginally lower against the US dollar in the opening trade.

The local currency opened at 66.95 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 66.96—down 0.08% from its previous close of 66.92.

Traders are focusing on the goods and services tax (GST) meet and results of upcoming state election results on 18 February and 11 March, respectively.

Asian currencies were trading mixed. Japanese yen was up 0.27%, China renminbi 0.19%, South Korean won 0.16%, Thai baht 0.09%. However, Malaysian ringgit was down 0.18%, Taiwan dollar 0.16%, Indonesian rupiah 0.11%, Singapore dollar 0.04%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 100.95—down 0.22% from its previous close of 101.18.

Today Rupee weakens against US dollar on Asian cues

 
The Indian rupee on Tuesday weakened against the US dollar, snapping a nine-day rally, tracking losses in the Asian currencies markets.

Traders are cautious ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) bi-monthly monetary policy review meeting on Wednesday.

The rupee opened at 67.29 a dollar. 15At 9.am, the home currency was trading at 67.31—down 0.13% from its previous close of 67.22.

Asian currencies markets were trading lower. Taiwan dollar was down 0.39%, South Korean won 0.38%, Singapore dollar 0.36%, Malaysian ringgit 0.22%, China offshore spot 0.19%, Philippines peso 0.17%, Japanese yen 0.11%, China renminbi 0.1%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 100.05—up 0.14% from its previous close of 99.91.

Today Rupee opens 11 paise higher at 67.20 against US dollar

 
The Indian rupee on Monday strengthened against the US dollar tracking the gains in the local equity and Asian currencies markets. The rupee gained for the ninth consecutive session, its longest winning streak since June 2011.Traders are cautious ahead of an event heavy week.

The local currency opened at 67.21 a dollar and touched a low of 67.20, a level last seen on 11 November 2016. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 67.22, up 0.17% from its previous close of 67.32.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will meet on Wednesday for its bi-month policy. Seven out of 10 bank economists polled by Mint expect RBI to cut its repo rate by 25 basis points to 6%. The other three expect the repo rate to remain unchanged.

Asian currencies were trading higher as the dollar weakened after mixed US employment data reduced expectations for a US Federal Reserve interest rate increase in March.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 99.71, down 0.16% from its previous close of 99.87.

Rupee opens flat against US dollar at 68.06 in the market

 
The rupee opened nearly 2 paise down at 68.06 against dollar on Monday on account of buying of American currency by banks and importers amid weak global cues.

The local currency closed nearly 4 paise higher at 68.04 against dollar on Friday. Recent, rally in the domestic equities, which helped stocks to post their highest weekly gains in nearly eight months, lend further support to rupee in the last trading session.

Asian currencies were trading higher as dollar weakened after Donald Trump’s order to halt some immigration compounded investor concerns about protectionist US policies.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 100.22, down 0.3% from its previous close of 100.53.

Today Rupee opens higher at 68.05 per US dollar in market


 


The Indian rupee on Friday strengthened against the US dollar, tracking the gains in the Asian currencies markets.

The rupee opened at 68.05 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 68.05 a dollar, up 0.11% from Thursday’s close of 68.13. So far this year, it has fallen 0.2%.

Asian currencies were trading higher after US Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen said she favours gradually raising interest rates. South Korean won was up 0.38%, Taiwan dollar 0.31%, Philippines peso 0.13%, Thai baht 0.13%, Japanese yen 0.13%, China Offshore spot 0.12% and Singapore dollar rose 0.05%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 100.99, down 0.16% from its previous close of 101.15.

Today Rupee holds the line against US dollar at 68.06

 
The Indian rupee on Tuesday was trading little changed against the US dollar in the opening trade.

The rupee opened at 68.06 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 68.07 a dollar—up 0.03% from Monday’s close of 68.10. So far this year, it has fallen 0.22%.

Asian currencies were trading higher. Japanese yen was up 0.12%, Philippines peso 0.12%, Singapore dollar 0.11%, Indonesian rupiah 0.05%. However, South Korean won was down 0.07%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 101.46—up 0.27% from its previous close of 101.18.

Today Rupee opens nearly 19 paise down at 68.15 against dollar

 
The Indian rupee on Monday weakened against the US dollar tracking the losses in the Asian currencies markets and also on the pessimism on domestic markets following the lower economic growth projections last Friday.

Traders were also worried that the full year gross domestic product may come even lower then the estimates after impact of demonetisation factored in.

The rupee opened at 68.16 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 68.20 a dollar, down 0.34% from Friday’s close of 67.96. So far this year it fell 0.4%.

Asian markets were also trading higher in morning trade on Monday, supported by a strong Wall Street, and the dollar stood tall against rivals after the latest US payrolls data indicated strong underlying wage growth, strengthening the case for more rate increases in 2017.

Rupee opens nearly 3 paise higher at 68.20 against dollar

 
The Indian rupee on Thursday strengthened marginally against the US dollar, tracking gains in the Asian currencies markets.The home currency opened at 68.23 against the US dollar.
 
the rupee was trading at 68.17 per US dollar, up 0.11% from its previous close of 68.24. So far this year, it has fallen 3%.

Asian currencies were trading higher. Japanese yen was up 0.34%, Thai Baht 0.17%, South Korean won 0.1%, China renminbi 0.09%, Singapore dollar 0.05%. However, China Offshore spot was down 0.23%, Indonesian rupiah 0.16%.

India’s benchmark Sensex index was trading at 26,195.01 points, down 0.06% or 3.41 points from its previous close. So far this year, it has up 0.3%

The 10-year bond yield was trading at 6.617%, compared to Wednesday’s close of 6.585%. Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 103.09, down 0.21% from its previous close of 103.3.

Today Rupee rises 3 paise to 67.79 against dollar in early trade


The Indian rupee on Monday was trading little changed against the US dollar. Trade is likely to be thin because many dealers are on year-end holiday.

The home currency opened at 67.81 against the US dollar. At 9.15am, the rupee was trading at 67.82 per US dollar, up 0.01% from its previous close of 67.83. So far this year, it has fallen 2.44%.

India’s benchmark Sensex index was trading at 26,056.17 points, up 0.06% or 15.47 points from its previous close. So far this year, it has down 0.3%

The benchmark 10-year government bond yield was trading at 6.54% compared to Friday’s close of 6.544%. Bond yields and prices move in opposite directions.

So far this year, foreign institutional investors have bought $3.65 billion in equities and sold $6.54 billion in debt.

Asian currencies were trading higher. South Korean won was up 0.26%, Japanese yen 0.18%, Taiwan dollar 0.16%, Indonesian rupiah 0.13%, China Offshore 0.08%.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency’s strength against major currencies, was trading at 102.96, down 0.05% from its previous close of 103.01.

Rupee inches up 9 paise to 67.90 against dollar in early trade

 
The rupee ruled higher against the dollar, rising 9 paise to 67.90 in early trade at the Inter-bank Foreign Exchange today on increased selling of the US currency by exporters and banks.

Forex dealers said that besides selling of the American unit by exporters, the dollar's weakness against some currencies overseas supported the rupee but a lower opening of the domestic equity market restricted the gains.

The local currency had depreciated by 8 paise to settle at 67.99 against the greenback yesterday on massive capital outflows that induced further instability to the currency markets.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 64.19 points, or 0.25 per cent, to trade at 25,915.41 in early trade.

Rupee recovers 10 paise against dollar in early trade

 
The rupee gained some strength and was trading nearly 10 paise higher at 67.93 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday on some selling pressure in the American currency from domestic companies and banks.

Domestic equity indices Sensex and Nifty opened in the green, following firm global cues. The 30-share Sensex opened 60.90 points, or 0.23 per cent, higher at 26,368, while the 50-share Nifty opened 23.45 points, or 0.29 per cent, up at 8,105. The local currency opened at nearly 7 paise up at 67.96 against the dollar.

The rupee slipped by 16 paise to 68.03 against the greenback on Tuesday. Market watchers said sustained capital outflow kept the currency under pressure in Tuesday's session.

In the currency futures market, the most traded dollar-rupee December contract on NSE ended at 68.07 on Tuesday. The open interest on the December contract rose by 11.64 per cent from the previous day.

Rupee sinks over 35 paise against dollar after Fed hike

 
The rupee weakened nearly 36 paise to 67.80 against the dollar in early trade on Thursday on account of brisk buying of American currency by banks and importers.

The dollar hit its 14-year high on Thursday against a basket of major currencies after the Fed boosted the number of expected interest rate hikes for the next calendar year.

The rupee on Wednesday gained for first time in three sessions on positive sentiment triggered by lower inflation. The local currency closed 11 paise higher at 67.43 against the US dollar.

Brokerage Angel Broking said the USDINR is expected to depreciate in Thursday's session as the US Fed decision to increase interest rates and prediction of three rate hikes in 2017 boosted demand for the American currency, which in turn kept the pressure on the rupee. However, any unusual movement will prompt RBI to intervene in the market.

Today Rupee opens nearly 16 paise down at 67.52 against dollar

 
The rupee opened nearly 16 paise down at 67.52 against the dollar on Friday on account of selling of the greenback by banks and importers.

The domestic currency was trading 22 paise down at 67.58 in early trade around 9.15 am.

Extending its gains for the third straight day, the rupee on Thursday closed at a near one- month high of 67.36, up 27 paise against the dollar.

The domestic equity market opened higher, following firm global cues. The BSE Sensex opened 94.25 points, or 0.35 per cent, higher at 26,788, while NSE's Nifty50 index rose 24.85 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 8,271.

Government bonds ended little changed on Thursday, as the RBI Monetary Policy Committee's surprise decision to keep rates steady dissuaded investors from adding fresh positions.

The benchmark 6.97 per cent bond maturing in 2026 ended at Rs 104.07 on Thursday against Rs 104.00 on Wednesday. As a result, bond yields fell to 6.40 per cent from 6.41 per cent on the previous day.

Rupee opens 6 paise higher at 67.84 against dollar

 
The rupee opened nearly 6 paise higher at 67.84 against the dollar on Wednesday amid selling of the greenback amid expectation of a rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India later in the day.

The domestic equity market opened on a flat note with a positive bias, following mixed global cues.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was trading 47.90 points, or 0.18 per cent, higher at 26,440 in early trade, while NSE's Nifty50 was up 18.85 points, or 0.23 per cent, at 8,162.
 
The benchmark 6.97 per cent bond maturing in 2026 ended at Rs 105.55 on Tuesday compared with Rs 105.44 the previous day. Bond yields eased to 6.20 per cent from 6.22 per cent.

The rupee also got some strength against the greenback after the apex bank decided to raise the ceiling for issue of securities under the market stabilisation scheme (MSS) to curb excess liquidity in the banking sector stemming from demonetisation.
